Atlantic City Teen Killed, Another Injured In Shooting

An Atlantic City teen was killed and another was injured in a late night shooting, authorities said.

City police responded to reports of shots fired on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue just before 11 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. When officers arrived, they found two teen boys on the sidewalk and in the road with gunshot wounds.

The two teens were rushed to AtlantiCare Medical Center, City Division. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the head and died on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 3:27 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg and was released from the hospital a few hours later.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which is being investigated by the major crimes unit for the county prosecutor’s office and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.

The official cause of the 14-year-old's death is pending an autopsy by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
